Structural Components was notified that a tower in North Dakota was missing a guy wire and was in
danger of collapse if not addressed as soon as practical. The project manager’s immediately went into
action and adjusted current schedules to free up an experienced crew to tackle the challenge. While a
crew mobilized from the east coast, the management and engineering team worked together to put a
plan together. An engineering assessment was completed to determine a repair procedure that would
keep the crew and structure safe. Once a procedure was formalized, the management team worked to
source the required materials and have it at site by the time the crew arrived. The field crew was able to
get a good opportunity with the weather shortly after arriving and site and make the repairs. Four days
from the original notification, the tower was back in stable condition.
